How many of you have cats that look like they should be in a hair commercial?
I love your cats 😭
I’ll pet them for you :)
Looks like someone needs to go on a diet. Or is it all fluff?
Merry Christmas to you too!
Note: works for fur only
Signed,
Sphynx Cats
I can guarantee you that cat was brushed by a human just before that shot. No alley cat in the wild would ever look like that from just licking.
Society treats feral cats better than homeless hominids
Good nutrition too. That’s a cat that gets the best and it shows.
Hot tip for humans: You too can have healthier hair if you eat better, get sleep, exercise and reduce stress!
(Unless you have baldness genes, in which case, shave that shit and own it.)
Save money and use saliva. 😉
If I could lick the top of my head then you know I would…
Lick your paw and then use the paw to distribute saliva on your head.
Also cat: my asshole tastes acceptable today. Also human: that asshole I just ate tastes acceptable today.
Obvious conclusion: cats and humans are genetically identical.
Also something related I never came to grips with: cat’s breath = the stench of a thousand decaying corpses. Licks fur constantly. Fur = the smell of springtime itself.
My (unfortunately late) void had a scratching post with the top level just at my nose height, so whenever he lolled around there I made a point of taking a deep breath of fluffy freshness.
I have owned many cats, and I have huffed deeply of them all.
Cat fur, cat toes, cat bellies, all have these unique and wonderful scents that are probably more connected to our emotional connections to them than the actual nature of the scent itself. This should teach us a lot about social conditioning and our senses.
My cats breath isn’t really bad. I thought if their breath was bad it means they likely have something wrong in there.
I’ve noticed that after switching my cat to raw food his fur is a lot smoother.
Ive been wanting to do this lately, do you have an resources on how to go about it economically?
I believe there was a few tips in the c/vegan lemmy recently for cat nutrition
Shaving what little hair I have left on my head is so much more convenient, lol.
you want to polish up a cat, brush him. My boy Harry would shine up so bright after a good brush. My current girl Izzy is kinda frizzy anyway but she’ll take a satin finish.
Btw, i use shampoo with urea (skin issues) and noticed it makes the hair stronger and glossier.
So you piss on your skin, too! I’m glad I’m not the only one
With that argumentation, don’t ever eat anything; it has animal piss in it.

The something is not scrubbing out all the oils with alkaline cleaners every single day forever.
Yup. I only wash my hair with water. No shampoo. We never needed that shit in the first place
You and I have VERY different hair then. My hair is horrific if I get it wet and don’t soap it.
Exactly, my hair will morph into every possible haircut at once as soon as it get’s wet and then dries without having been soaped.
i have long hair and it’s horrific when i take care of it. without all the gross oils and sticks and rocks my hair balloons
You should clean your hair to limit bacterial growth and remove pests. You just don’t need to strip the oils out daily.
Once a month when I go to the barber shop. Or if I really need to clean my hair, I use baking soda.

No really I have clean hair. No smell, not greasy, soft and strong. But I have to wash it every day with clean water and brush it. That’s it
I remember the trustafarians in college 20 years ago that would claim your hair naturally cleans itself and it doesn’t smell.
They always smelled.
they weren’t using soap and water on themselves. not necessarily a hair issue.
you guys know that you don’t have to shampoo and wash your hair right? It’s really not that bad.
As long as you shower regularly and properly wash it it’s literally fine.
If you don’t believe me try it.
Hair is actually very much not the same from person to person, let alone race to race.

this statement alone is generic (and thus problematic when you try and apply it to all humans). What does regularly mean here? Every day? Every few days? Does this arbitrary regularity match a black person with curly hair vs a white person with straight hair? etc.
It’s almost like a one-size-fits-all when it comes to health isn’t a great idea

i mean obviously, but don’t forget that we also literally evolved without the existence of shampoo and conditioner, and showers. So we’re probably fine without it.

I don’t know, how often do you shower? Most people shower daily, some people shower less frequently than that, very few people shower more infrequently than that outside of just having bad hygiene, unless we’re not counting baths for some reason.
There’s a reason it’s a generic statement, i can’t prescribe my highly irregular and variable shower schedule to the average person as it’s probably not socially acceptable, but i also don’t go outside, so.
I feel like most people can sort of like… Figure it out themselves? Seems like a reasonable assumption to me when it comes to personal hygiene.

yeah… That’s why i said go try it?
You must stink. People around are just being nice by not saying anything. 🤔
I have 2 cats, the orange has a thicker fur and it was never very soft but the tuxedo has a velvet, soft, shinny fur. It’s so amazing that I pet her for too lomg sometimes and get a bitch slap
That something is hairballs.
It’s not implausible that, among the enzymes in cat saliva, there are some which evolved to maintain the condition of the cat’s coat.
That, and cat hair is much finer.
Don’t people also give their cats food that explicitly aids them in growing a better coat?
But how will we know if it’s in our saliva if we never lick ourselves clean?
Get a tongue extension and try it out. For science.
