The admin of sh.itjust.works has been approached but as of yet has failed to reply to concerned Lemmy users. I’m glad Beehaw admins look out for us by cutting off instances that host communities like this.

Genuinely concerning how anti free speech a lot of lemmy users are. Part of me thinks this site is just as cucked and left wing as reddit.

you’re already banned for being a dipshit but: i cannot think of a better endorsement for this site than free speech losers like you describing it this way. if we had a wall for endorsement quotes i’d make this our first one

Lol same experience. I see a few people on other social sites complain about Beehaw because it has moderation. And invariably, looking through their comment history, they’re not people I’d ever want near Beehaw. Trash takes itself out sometimes I guess

Not to mention believing there’s anything “left wing” about Reddit.

This is like the “No true Scotsman” fallacy.

Try posting any less-than left wing ideas on any big Reddit sub and see how many upvotes you get. I’m not talking about alt-right nonsense, just stuff like “maybe public school women’s teams should be separate from teams with trans women athletes on them.”

Actual discussion about anything political is impossible on Reddit anywhere but small communities, because the site is such an echo-chamber.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I get attacked here just for using that as an example, because it’s such a clusterfuck of a topic.

Because it’s tiresome to have the same conversation that you could have answered yourself by listening to literally any credible medical source, or paying attention to places with allow trans athletes and the requirements and protections they offer.

But since I’m feeling generous about doing the educational burden of opening up google and searching for a relevant scientific paper for you, here you go, a metastudy and in-depth review of all the medical and scientific literature on this subject including an executive summary for those which are not scientifically inclined.

You completely missed and supported my point at the same time.

              I was debating…

Kichae: Not to mention believing there’s anything “left wing” about Reddit.

              …and nothing else.

Myself: I wouldn’t be surprised if I get attacked here just for using that as an example

Thank you for insulting me for being uniformed, while entirely missing the point of discussion. We all know that insulting people’s intelligence is the best way to spread awareness.

@IHangBananas I am pro free speech, and I would consider myself mainly left wing. But I resonate with the quote ‘I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.’ People have a right to read what they want, and they can block people for themselves to do that, but I think platforms have a moral, if not legal, obligation to host content regardless of whether they agree with it.

Removing ourselves from a shitty situation is not anti free speech. They are free to say whatever they want, and I am free to not have to read it. If you want to interact and read it you are free to go there.

Look at how free we all are.

Seriously. People who think “free speech” somehow means “I can lie, slander, and be a dick all I want” with zero consequences are utterly stupid. It’s also extremely funny, and concerning, that those same people are claiming that anti-free-speech equates to left wing. They really are that clueless.

“Why, just today the notably left-wing Supreme Court upheld speech restrictions on speech encouraging immigration.”

That’s a lie. From the article:

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a provision of federal law that prohibits the encouragement of illegal immigration for financial gain, ruling against a man who ran an organization falsely claiming that noncitizens could obtain citizenship in the US through adult adoption.

Wonder why you left that part out.

The literal next sentence in the article is

The case raised significant free speech concerns in the context of a law meant to forbid individuals from encouraging illegal immigration.

Why did you make this reply? What are you trying to raise?

It never seizes to amaze me how many people are seemingly unable to understand such a simple concept. Either that or they just don’t want to understand. Considering the type of people that like to pull the freedom of speech card I’m guessing it’s probably the latter.

I’m kinda struggling to wrap my mind around what “cucked” is supposed to mean here. Is that just a complaint that people allow other people to exist? Maybe it’s just my brain being weird at the moment but this comment is a bit baffling in a sort of “literal interpretation”-ish sense to me right now.

You are in your own wacky unreal world. Please stay there while the rest of us have a lovely community. If you can learn to be someone people want to spend time with, they will.

Right now you are the source of why no one likes you.

We don’t want hate speech here except if it’s about Spez, Musk, Bezos or some other person we don’t like.
