You want any animal (that won’t maul you to death) to be your best friend? Scratch a place they themselves can’t reach. Like with dogs and cats, I immediately go for their inner ears because they can’t scratch there and it constantly itches. The back center of the spine near the tail is another good spot because few animals can reach that “one exact spot”. Animals will melt like butter if you find the spots to scratch that they can’t reach. Imagine constantly having an itch on your back, and then someone comes and starts scratching that exact spot. It’s fucking magical

For dogs one spot is the chest between the front legs as well, they really can’t reach it themselves. It’s quite amusing how they just lean on your scratching hand, eyes rolling back

Haha, the spot just in front of the tail. If you scritch my dog there he’ll never leave you alone and will keep bumping you with his butt requesting more scritches.

      “Butt still itchy. Keep going”

My dog used to love coffee tables because he could rub against that exact spot you just described above his tail.

That’s my go-to spot for every dog. They immediately become even friendlier and just want more scratches.

I have a theory that most vertebrates on the planet love back scratches including humans

My cat does the same thing with his tongue when I scratch his back just right. Lickey Lickey.
