Why YSK: You may dislike, disagree with, or be tired of certain communities and don’t want them in your feed.
I do that instead of subscribing to communities.
So far I’ve mostly just blocked sports related communities. Also Apple.
The naming of this button is too rough, IMO. And it could have been placed in the dropdown menu for each post. kthnx.
On Jerboa it is and I’m extremely grateful for it. Blocked a bunch of lemmynsfw communities that I’d rather not see scrolling in public 😅

Why not disable NSFW on your main account, and then create a “porn” account. Then when in public, you stick with your main and stay safe®, and in private you can scroll your alt.
Is there anyway to block instances without defederating? If not I’d like to see that as an option

For WefWef users there isn’t a block button, however, switch to Memmy or Mlem and block them through that and it will also block in WefWef. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Well, that’s the exact community I block in my home feed
My client has a block community option right from the feed.
It would be nice if you could block entire instances. I once had my feed fill up with a bunch of sports posts with exactly 0 activity on them.

E: We probably want a “Mute Community” option as well. One that removes that community’s content from All, but doesn’t remove access from the community if you search for it or go to it directly. That way we can look at 🫘 when we want to, yet not see them displacing everything else in All.
I started getting dicks for some reason but blocking those communities fixed it. I wish there was a way to have to opt into getting dicks instead.
