The SkyConnect dongle was sold as Zigbee but with the promise of also supporting Thread. This is available in HA as experimental. Does anyone have experience with how stable it is? Is it close to ready?

My HA instance is running as a container in kubernetes with the skyconnect USB device mounted by the container. It works perfectly in ZigBee mode but the option to enable multiprotocol mode is disabled unless you are running a native install so I haven’t been able to test it yet. I don’t have any Thread compatible devices so even if I could turn it on I don’t have any real way to test it.

Maybe if I invest in Thread down the road I’ll dedicate some hardware to it.

I have a couple of thread (nanoleaf) devices that I tried to get working and ended up needing to reflash the skyconnect to only ZB mode after eventually aborting in frustration

This was probably 3 months ago give or take though

It’s rock solid as a Zigbee device but at least then I couldn’t get it to work with Thread worth a damn, and I’m scared to try again lest I have to re-do my otherwise really solid Zigbee network

That said, Nanoleaf Thread connectivity is appallingly bad, so ymmv with better devices?
