Right, I forget about that every time until I’m reminded of it. It’s the first thing I change along with showing hidden files when helping someone. (Even if what they need help with is unrelated)

I call bullshit on this post. Since Windows 10 you can just double click a zip file and it opens up like any other directory (even if it isn’t) and shows you the files.

Just the other day I had to tell someone to unzip first before they could patch the rom (they were going to play some romhack on an emulator); I don’t know how old they were but clearly there can be scenarios where someone has a zip file and don’t know what to do with it or use it.

I don’t even know what the rom was or which emulator they were using, because I just told them if they google Rom Patcher JS that’s going to work for whatever file type it is, because according to them the problem was that the patcher they had didn’t work…

But as it turns out they were trying to use the .zip archive as the patch file, so I then had to explain to them that they need to extract it first.

And afterwards the patcher they had did work so I don’t think they even used Rom Patcher JS in the end.

So one thing I’ve started getting worried about is whether youtube/google will eventually block/delete youtube/google accounts who use adblockers.

I don’t really care about my youtube account but I have several gmail accounts and losing those would be awful.

I assume they won’t ever go that far, but just the possibility is scary.

So is there an easy way to migrate all your stuff to some other email service and what are some good ones?

I used to use Firefox before Chrome, and it was working great. Then at some point Firefox just started sucking and so I ended up switching to Chrome.

Around the same time I stopped using hotmail in favor of gmail as well

Now, probably almost 20 years later I’m back at Firefox

Yeah. I switched from world to lemm.ee because world just seems to be too willing to use censorship.

From what I can tell lemm.ee is one of the instances that does the least de-federating and censorship so that’s why I switched to there, but I’ve seen talks about it becoming an invite only instance in the future so if someone is not sure then imo you should join now.

The vast majority of people are neither lawyers nor judges.

I think the people the laws apply to should be able to make sense of those laws or the laws are no good.

Have you seen the video? The shooter getting “pranked” had both hands occupied carrying a paper bag and was being followed and harassed for over 10 seconds while repeatedly telling the prankster to stop.

It does seem like an overreaction to shoot immediately instead of trying to threaten first but I’m not sure.

I would’ve fully sided with the shooter if they’re weren’t in a mall with other people around and probably security right around the corner, because then he would’ve been much more at risk if he doesn’t shoot and the prankster tries to rob him or w/e.
