That part of my comment was a bit of an hyperbole tbh, but it’s also true that Apple just slaps the “Pro” moniker to their most expensive tier without always making them deserve it.
Before the iPhone 15 Pro series, there wasn’t really much “pro” in the Pro models. Same with the iPad Pro, sure they’re way nicer and higher end, but hardly anything “pro” about them.
And don’t get me started with the new baseline 14 inch MacBook Pro, with a regular M3 and 8GB of RAM.
Disclaimer: I’m in no way trying to defend Apple here.
Saying that X amount of RAM (or any other component spec for that matter) is not enough for a “Pro” computer is not really a universal truth or something, you can’t compare people running multiple instances of Docker with people doing photo editing or web dev for example.
Either of those can be “Pros” within their field, their hardware requirements doesn’t make them professionals or enthusiasts. I know I’m being a bit tangential here, but arguing about the “correct” spec por a Pro computer has always irked me.
That being said, I agree it’s ridiculous that Apple is shipping $1K+ computers with merely 8GB of RAM. Also, it’s known that Apple’s “pro” devices most of the time just mean they’re just their most expensive tier. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone brake-checking in my country. It’s almost always videos from the US.
I do believe he’s a moron screwing Twitter up by accident incompetence.
To be fair, Elon doesn’t all have that money in cash. Also, like half of the Twitter buyout was made possible with a loan where he used his a Tesla stocks for like half of the operations as collateral.
Although I agree that he’s far from being broke, this can become a pretty bad financial decision to Elon.
I believe it’s a matter of being in the same platform as controversial content.
In the end they’re paying Twitter to display their ads, and if Twitter allows questionable content to be in their platform, the companies are indirectly supporting it.
More often than not you need to be very specific and have some knowledge on the stuff you ask it.
However, you can guide it to give you exactly what you want. I feel like knowing how to interact with GPT it’s becoming similar as being good at googling stuff.
I think that the possibility for Lemmy being around for the next 20 years is a compelling argument for pricing the lifetime version that high.
The dev needs recurring money to support himself, and having a ton of users not paying at all after a certain amount of time would only hurt him in the future.
I agree that it’d be better to stomach if there was a cheaper recurring monthly/yearly fee for it (in case it doesn’t exist right now).

I have a friend that’s always late, like literally always. I tried to put myself in his shoes because he’s got 2 small kids and that should be extremely exhausting, but I don’t think he even tries anymore.
To be fair though, sincerity without empathy is just assholeness. There are way to many people justifying their asshole behaviors with “being sincere”.
Ever since getting into arguments with strangers online stopped being fun for me, I try to be extremely polite to people when I’m asking a probably confrontational question.
On the internet, a good amount of time people asking questions in comments sections are often just trying to show others how much they know about something in the most passive aggressively way possible, so it better to always be extra clear that you’re trying to engage on a healthy discussion.
One thing is to exaggerate the range in your advertisement material, which every auto manufacture does—especially since you need to meet veeery specific criteria to get the advertised mpg.
Another though is to rig your software to show misleading range to the people actually driving the fucking car, that’s either stupid or very shady.

Not to make you more anxious about it, but I have a story you’re not going to like:
Back in uni, several years ago, I went to the movie theater with a couple friends. Being the broke ass students we were, we didn’t buy anything to eat or drink while watching the movie.
Anyway, we were searching for our seats when all of a sudden we saw an abandoned tray with a popcorn and soda, completely untouched, so we took it.
I had told the story about the abandoned tray in the movies a couple times since as a nice thing that happened to me. Until last month, when I was telling the story to my wife and her parents, and they said “what if the owner went to the bathroom before the movie started”.
That’s when I realized that me and my friends didn’t find the tray, but rather someone possibly went to the bathroom only to come back to their seat and find their food/drinks stolen.

It’s probably just meant to be for people that wouldn’t watch the animated series under any circumstance.
I’ve never watched One Piece the anime (yet) and I keep putting it off because of how fucking long it is. I don’t know how faithful the Netflix adaptation is, but I enjoyed it a lot; so much that I might finally start watching the anime.
I don’t expect those of us who like the animated Avatar to enjoy the live-action adaptation as much, but there are surely people who will, and they’re probably the ones this is for.
