If Spider-Man was invented today he’d be considered a self insert. Jaded nerd gets super powers and constantly inner monologues he could beat up his bully
Ignoring the success and failure of agile and waterfall. Waterfall was just a way more enjoyable development experience for me. That would probably change if the cycle was lower though. Also doesn’t help that many managers I’ve had don’t follow the rules of agile/SCRUM. Seems like people use it as an excuse to be able to change things on any given day but those cycles are supposed to be planned, not the plans.
My birth certificate has my old name crossed out and replaced because my mum hated the way my dad pronounced it with his accent. The change is legally acceptable
The problem is you can also make the villain a manchild whos sick of people not agreeing with him and the internet will call him based
Don’t stereotype people by the online facade. I’ve met maybe one weird trans person who fits the stereotype but most of the time they are normal people
I think it depends on the context. Calling me a full stack is an acknowledgement that I can work on every step of the system and usually every part of the system. I don’t consider it to mean equally good.
However if it keeps getting brought up when I am not supposed to be working on those other steps, that signals to me that maybe they are trying to push more work into me that I shouldn’t be do.
I can appreciate that when someone says “Our X Expert”. It definitely feels like more praise and more value.
To be fair there was a large amount of time (2010s at least) where vegans weren’t even trying to be appealling. It was either. Stereotypical vegan dishes but even more limited or extremely bad vegetarian meat. Vegetarian meat has improved a lot and more importantly vegan food is represented as less one note.
Don’t think I’m strong enough to give up dairy but respect to those who can do so without being elitist
Probably one of the harder things that I could do. It’s a replacement for TV so I could try and slot in TV but I think it would be frustrating to not have the copious amounts of content
I came to post always eating breakfast. I prepare overnight oats and eat it when I wake up and its helped a lot with concentration. There’s definitely something to be said about a lot of marketed greasy or sugary breakfasts
Moreso then “going full Nazi” just spreading misinformation on sensitive topics. Feels like a pretty good safeguard until people realize that AI is a not only not the most reliable source of information but worse a full blown liar in its current implementation
All those random scraps of metal you find lying are just the end result of someone trying to travel back in time and the time machine not surviving
Nearly spat out my drinks at the leap in logic
Clique culture in small companies is pretty common. It might not be boys club but there’s no middle man to protect Devs from those in charge so there’s always going to be pressure to hang out if everyone is or to work overtime. You have to work in that clique culture but you don’t have to always say yes as long as you are friendly about it. The phrase “being firm” has never sight right with me for these as it’s the antithesis of friendliness you can be loose and say no and if it’s brought up again stay loose and continue to say no. You don’t need an excuse but a loose excuse is works well.
Security is obviously always scary but the tech landscape does not really have that anyway. Realistically if the only worry is it’s a small company and everything else is good, take it. If you find that you don’t fit into the small team flow, then you can continue looking in the future.
I’m not really sure how much empathy I have for this. I’m aware in the US you don’t pick a major until a year in but even when you don’t people, were ready to invest in subjects they knew would leave them with few job opportunities. They thought it was cool and wanted to go to university. Finding a job was a future problem. I was not and won’t be anti-arts and humanities but they are just as popular, if not more so then many other subjects in universities and 90% of them know that it’s a difficult field to find any work in
A day with no plans where I’m not thinking about the end of my days off. You don’t get it with a week off. Every day you have a thought about how many days left but two week on Wednesday. You’ve done what you want the weekend is still far away and you know the next week I’d more time. Bliss, no need to worry about utilising your time off. Just pure impulse.
It’s true. I once played spin the bottle with one other person and didn’t realize what the plan was after playing it. Thought it was just an awkward interaction until she asked brought it up a couple years later.
Later on in life, a girl invited me to a sleepover and we were joking and having fun shared a bed and went to sleep. I woke up to her crying because she took it as me finding her ugly and not being into her.
Needless to say neither went anywhere because I guess my smooth brain was not an attractive trait.
My brain just went down a rabbit hole of of breeds vs strays and whether it’s fucked or not and how the world would look if people treated cat breeding like they did dog breeding and how things would change.
I had this comment open for like 20 minutes
When I am immune to the thoughts of questioning my finances
