An acquaintance of mine from university started doing ChatGPT therapy and the confirmation bias machine has fooled him into thinking it loves him and he’s very special and doesn’t need to change anything in his life. It even told him (unemployed and living in his parents basement at 30 with <$2000 in his accounts) he shouldn’t get a job if it would “feel restricting to his creative tendencies”.
Truly sad.
Joe Rogan. I described him many years ago as “the reality TV equivalent for podcast dudebros” and my (largely well educated, liberal) friend group jumped down my throat for it. Apparently I was being judgemental and shouldn’t judge people for their entertainment choices.
Called my shot.
Per the email text and Plex’s policy, they are correct - only Server Owners need the Pass.
That said I moved to Jellyfin months ago when they announced it.
The commodification of our most base needs, such as romantic relationships, is truly troubling. So much unrest because things like food, shelter, and reproduction are paywalled. Makes the population more vulnerable to fascist ideals.
The original image, and your extension, are an emergent behavior as a result of The Algorithm - due to “scarcity”, Player B (men) is (are) encouraged to roll the dice as frequently as possible.
This whole dynamic is real, results in negative interactions for both players, and is intentionally set up by the apps to maintain engagement and extract as much money via pay-to-play advantages as possible. Dating apps are rigged to give men and women bad experiences so they (largely men) become desperate enough to pay $25 a month or whatever to have an unfair advantage.
The internet (and other players!) likes to hate the players, not the game, and the only “comfort” many young men have is Tate and Co.
I’m running a Matrix server with a FB Messenger bridge via mautrix-meta and that makes it a clear winner. Half my group chats have migrated entirely since I’ve set my close friends up with accounts in my server and they also use the bridge. The fact that people can slowly migrate chats without losing messages or groups is killer for adoption imo.
I need to migrate off Docker Desktop for Windows and Storage Spaces but I fear the process will be difficult due to my data volume and the stupidity of Windows. I should never have gone Windows, but I wanted to use Steam Big Picture off the media PC and didn’t want to deal with getting that functional on Linux.
But Docker Desktop for Windows keeps crashing WSL and bricking the network devices randomly, and also continuously grows memory consumption until the machine reboots. Piece of shit.
You an FPV guy or a cinematic guy?
There’s also just a fundamental problem with planned economies from a purely economic standpoint: they are much less efficient at actually providing the minimum set of goods and services required by a population, and they’re worse at achieving growth. See the most recent Nobel Prize in economics for a citation. Funnily enough, the same paper’s arguments apply equally to oligarchic economies and crony capitalist economies, which are semi-planned economies by a small group of the ultra wealthy.
More specifically to the OP, communist countries have planned economies, which by nature requires a strong authority to tightly control production. Hence why communist states always have very consolidated political power structures. And once the power is consolidated, all it takes is one bad actor to get that power and ruin everything.
“A Lightweight VPN Built on top of IPFS + Libp2p”
Seems like both at a glance
Nifty! I built something similar for my university graduation project. Did a PCB, ESP8266 based as well. Temperature, humidity, sound, vibration, airborne particulate sensor, and some other stuff.
Wrapped a server up in docker for receiving the data, basic dashboard in JS for minor reactivity in components. Never ended up actually doing it cause I didn’t have a consistent host, but maybe I should spin it up again now that I have a home server.
Cool project, looks neat! Anything you were caught off guard by when doing this?
Eh… I’m sure that’s the case for some people, but a lot of left and right wing people seem to think democracy=my ideas winning. Those people seem to think Trump winning is not reflective of the (very shitty) will of the people.
Yeah uh, I really really hate to say it, but… democracy worked this time. The voice of the people is “Trump please”. Democracy just means you get what most people want, not what the best option is.
If the average case is 20 minutes and you saved 21 minutes doing a less good solution that still worked, you made the right choice.
Wanna make a difference? Get some of these stickers and slap em up everywhere. I’ve still got a few left over to put places.

Go to your city “public opinion” sessions on zoning and highway design. One of our new circumferential highways has the first inverted diamond because some radical urbanists sandbagged the public hearing. Showing up to these things can make a big impact.
Both. 1980s Era civil/traffic engineers in NA were all trained for car=future=build road. Nowadays most traffic engineering/city planning schools teach multimodal transportation as The Way, but decades of car washing our cities has resulted in an almost total collapse of public support for anything except another lane. Luckily, most people sub-30 are aware of this and are slowly becoming politically active. Public opinion will shift slowly over the next decade or two and eventually the traffic engineers will be allowed to do the right thing.
My sisters tongue swells up pretty badly if she has any mustard. Validated it with ground mustard seed. I had never heard of it either before that, but we did some googling and it’s a thing.
I do the same thing, and I’ve noticed my modem has been absolutely bricked probably 3-4 times this month. I wonder if this is why.
Of course it is, LLMs are inherently regurgitation machines - train on biased data, make biased predictions.
