Raised Roman Catholic, broke with that after a classmate died out of the blue of an aneurysm (how could God let shit like that happen?), after looking through Buddhism and some Occultist stuff, realized that the main function of “God” is to be used as a prop to scam people. I’ve considered the Satanist Left Hand path, but I don’t care about rituals. I’d rather follow the scientific method as applied to everything, and use it to extend and expand human nature. While theists still kind of nauseate me with a dash of pity, like seeing a dead kitten in the gutter, I’m up for positive interactions with anyone capable of maintaining one.

Probably can’t be libel if they don’t make it public, just stuff that happens behind closed doors and they can say “no comment”. Would be different if Reddit had a public modlog like Lemmy.

My guess is, after 10 years without a problem, someone around 2 years ago might have marked me for takedown for whatever reason. I always tried to be respectful, but didn’t start self-censoring until they suspended me for “violent content” without even referencing what was the supposed content. I kind of hoped that using Power Delete Suite to blank the account history, and avoiding most polemic topics from then onwards, would keep it safe, but apparently not.

Ironically, an alt account I created to participate in more polemic topics, got zero problems… but they now banned it along the main one, so bye Reddit, so long and thanks for all the fish.

I got suspended for “sexualization of minors”. Appealed that I did no such thing, and in response got permanently suspended for “repeated violations”.

So when “they” say you did it, you better believe it, because claiming otherwise is an additional violation 🤦

There is no need to get notified, they didn’t steal passwords, just session cookies. Most (all?) servers have invalidated all the user login cookies, but if you are in doubt, just logging out and back in should be enough to get a new cookie.

My main account got permabanned for “sexualization of minors” after I made a comment criticizing a guy talking about what he’d do to 4th graders. Sent an appeal… and got permabanned on ALL of my accounts for “recurring offense”.

Maybe spez wants to turn all of Reddit into jailbait again.

App developers have already agreed to some Reddit ToS in order to get an API key, so one of Reddit’s powers is to sue them. Developers don’t want to risk that, so they just follow the agreement and whatever Reddit tells them.

Individual users would still need to request becoming a developer, a process which Reddit has recently changed, and agree to the same ToS to get an API key, but the risk of getting sued instead of just banned, would be much lower. The ban could include both the API key, and any users using it, so still risky other than for throwaway accounts.

Reusing the official app’s API key though, could be interesting. Still risk getting banned, but interesting.

People who care about the difference between some things, tend to use different terms for them. Insisting on disregarding what they consider important, tends to make them feel insulted, which in this online setting, currently translates to getting blocked, reported, banned, or defederated.

I also can speak several languages, and read a few some more, wonder how would that need to be set. There was also supposed to be an option to automatically translate stuff, I think?

That could still come to Lemmy, if posts start being seen by hundreds of thousands of people, particularly if they come from instances which don’t share the same netiquette as the one the post is made on. Of course there’s defederation to fight that, but I feel like it can only go so far.
