It’s so weird when people say dogs don’t know time.
My dog gets a Dentistix at 6am and 3pm, and that motherfucker knows when it’s time.
If he ever gets one a little earlier than normal, I have to deal with weeks of him insisting the time change was permanent and he doesn’t have to wait. But if I stick to the schedule, so does he.
The crazy part is how fast he adapts to daylight savings time.
My cat, too. I feed him every day at 5:45 and that little butthole knows when 4:45 rolls around and it’s time to start bugging me.

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to walk my dog at 4:00 pm in the summer. Sorry pup, gotta wait till twilight so your paws don’t melt on the pavement.
Why is the leash around its muzzle?
It’s a Gentle Leader. It doesn’t function like a muzzle, because it doesn’t inhibit a dog from biting. It’s basically a harness that attaches at the head. You can read more about them here: How to use the gentle leader
What’s preventing a dog from backing out of that and slipping it off the snout?
