This comment section is confusing me immensely
This post was made by King right after Kamala did a rally in Michigan and used that phrase to trash some Anti-Genocide Pro-Palistine protesters who she first said that “OK I’m Speaking” and then told them to keep it up if they wanted Trump to win. This is after she had had met with muslim leaders and protest leaders and was giving them the run around.
Caitlin Johnstone who is famous for hosting Democracy Now and has been covering the genocide in depth, saw Steven King post this and thought, as many other people did, that it was referring to what she did to the protesters . Then people in the know started to inform us that it was in reference to something she said during the Presidential Debate 4 years ago. Something that her team should take into account and do away with that merch for a while.
ah, that’s a little different. Without context, I thought she was bashing heads at some debate.
She personally met with those protesters before the rally, then when they later interrupted the rally, she let them have their moment, then when they wouldn’t shut up, that’s when she said that. Those particular protesters had no intention of having any kind of discussion, and it’s quite telling that they only come to Democratic events instead of Republican ones, who are MUCH more hawkish and pro-Israel than Dems and whom a protest against might be more effective, if they actually cared about Palestinians
To be fair they protest Democrats because they have a history of at least listening. The Republicans, not so much.
If they went to the Republican rallies, the Republicans would violently attack them. Trump has repeatedly and explicitly told them to do so. I can’t blame them for not protesting where they know it would land them in the hospital, or worse.
So if the democrats violently attacked them they wouldn’t protest?
Interesting, nuanced even.
Willing to put the lives of marginalized people in danger with a trump presidency but if their physical well being is threated, genocide away.
So, here’s the real reason they don’t show to trump rallies. They are under the impression they can influence the Harris campaign into supporting policy that will strong arm Isreal into ending the Palestinian genocide. Is it far fetched? Possibly, but they are desperate.
Unfortunately, we are all pretty desperate right now. So, the whole weighing human suffering thing is kind of… deaf ears and all that…
Many were Palestinians who had lost swaths of their family to Genocide, but you don’t care about that… oh I though we were both making assumptions based on personal opinion.
imagine being Palestinian right now.
having a long and continued squabble over who owns that land that israel sits upon, both israel and palestine being the same fucking thing biblically.
Britain shows up, goes “fucking lol, this shits mine now losers” and then shits out israel, nearly a century of war goes by, neither side ceding literally anything to the other, except for Palestine because they’re bad at fighting against a well supported and funded military, i wonder why. And then continuing to engage in that conflict until quite literally nothing is left of you as a state or nation.
and so you show up to america, for whatever reason, you’ve probably lived there most if not all of your life, you see this shit happening, and the US supporting israel, and your first thought is, “surely harassing politicans will fix the problem” or even “man surely if i just call the public genociding nazis, they’ll finally stop killing my people”
like my brother in christ, go vote.
For which politician. The ones that AIPAC has either bought off or scared that they will spend endless money against any position you run for on your competitor at the slightest move that they do not approve of. The Scary Orange Man who will make things worse or the party of the Scary White Man who is literally funding the genocide of your people, the third party candidates which will get you attacked from both sides, or choose not to vote at all for a protest.
And if you look they say “They won’t vote for Genocide” not “They won’t vote for Kamala if she changes her position on Israel and its lunatic right wing government”. But they won’t vote for someone who is killing their families.
Was that shirt official campaign merch to begin with? People make their own t-shirts all the time.
Several years ago, I don’t know about now.
What is happening here
That ignores the actual context of this shirt. You just cannot remove Putin’s dick from your throat can you?
The actual context of the shirt is an event that happened in 2020 when she told Mike Pence at a VP debate that it was her turn to talk.
I’m sure you’re right about the context, but this still isn’t a great look. I also assumed that this was a reference to the very recent event, not a four year old interaction with someone who isn’t running for office this election cycle. I don’t think that’s an uncommon or unreasonable mistake to make.
Its because there are two seperate very different reactions to this. You have liberals unironically liking the slogan and you have communists loving caitlin johnstone
Are the people who wore “grab them by the pussy” and “I’m voting for the felon” t shirts suddenly offended by slogans?
Caitlin johnstone is a leftist not a republican
Is he criticizing or supporting Harris with that shirt?
Yes
Caitlin Johnstone is a Putinist, so of course she’d be gunning for the Democrats. Her bosses want a second Trump administration, after all.
Her bosses want a second Trump administration
i thought they were all pushed out a window?
Whether or not she’s a Putinist I can’t say, but her work is crowd funded. She’s independent.
There is surely no way to prove either one of you correct.
Source?
You reposting this is a pretty good piece of evidence of its friendliness to Putin
My thoughts exactly
upon 2 seconds of googling it seems her primary web host is under an aussie domain, so… There’s that.
Putin already conquers upside-down land?
depends, aussie politics are pretty aggressively corrupt right now, lots of chinese influence it smells like. Regardless, idk what the fuck an aussie is doing talking about US politics.
You could have read that in the about us section if you took a little more time than exactly what you need to make up a strawman.
But doing honest research does not seem to be the intention.
oh sorry my bad, did i not indicate that i spent literally two seconds googling it. Perhaps you could be a kind samaritan and explain it to me since you seem to be in the know here.
In short, what you read in this space is an ongoing collaboration between myself (Australian) and my husband Tim Foley (American)

I don’t think your block is working, as they seem to be the OP of the post.

So no source. Blue MAGA strikes again.

Ah yes, everyone who isn’t with US, is our enemy.
Everyone nods furiously
Something something thunderous applause…
We’ve no reason to put blind faith in any of those claims. Only time will tell
Ah yes, only time will tell! What a reasonable take. No wait.
So she IS a putinist, right?
She’s a soft apologist/propaganda pusher at minimal JUST from his article that he thought was exculpatory evidence
Sure sure, the guy is a real piece of work. Wait till you learn about this guy called Stoltenberg who is openly pushing Putin propaganda. Now NATO itself is being infiltrated by putinists!
Yes, different people can say different things in different contexts and some are right and some are wrong and some are pushing Putin propaganda and some Putin propaganda May be based in facts but doesn’t mean his actions in response to the facts are correct. You do know what propaganda is right?
information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
It doesn’t have to be false information. It can just be biased. It can also just be misleading.
Point being who the fuck cares what the head of NATO said when it’s not word for the word the same as this guy and that’s not what we’re talking about. You’re being an asshat
Well I was talking about name calling so that’s fitting.
Seems like a dumb slogan but I don’t see why you’d get triggered by it. If the Right is triggered by it, that’s probably why Stephen King is wearing it.
Also it isn’t a slogan it’s just on a shirt.
Because she said it to silence genocide protestors
She said it during the VP debate in 2020, that’s where most boomer dem moms are gonna know it from
Ohhhhhh, I only know it from the DNC and in all fairness that is what the post is referencing
Oh shit. I thought that was Bernie.
palpatine voice goooood.
I looked her up for 50 seconds. Went to her website. She seems like a huge Tankie with her posts. (Anderson Cooper is a CIA agent.) Fuk, that is some weird lefty paranoid shit, even for me.
Anyway, she can cope and seethe that the country is headed in a better direction.
By “her” do you mean Caitlin or Kamala? It’s really not clear, but I think you mean Caitlin.
I should have clarified, sorry. Caitlin. Maybe she has some good takes, but I am more cautious about certain anti-american leftist rhetoric, and one of them is calling random people CIA agents. I used to be really into this type of stuff, but ever since the Ukrainian war and how the Russian propaganda uses anti-american rhetoric to use as fuel for their war, I have just been more critical of it.
She’s just the left’s equivalent of a thoughtless single issue voter: stuck on her one point like a flagpole sitter, obstinate and blind to the realities of the normal people on the ground below. All of her tweets are like “bOtH sIdEs ArE jUsT aS bAd”.
Well that’s great Caitlin, how nice for you that nothing would change for you personally if Trump won. How awesome to be in such a privileged position that from your high post they both look tHe SaMe. Sounds like a comfy place to spend your days yelling at the people down in the mud.
OP is exactly the same, but never once had cared about anything except hurting Palestinians. ER I mean helping them yes that
Bad troll.
Huh? What are you talking about…?
So, Anderson Cooper IS a CIA agent or what?
I agree democracts can be cringe and are not much better than cons, but fuck man they are better than Trump.
Besides, Shawn fain is planning a General Strike in 2028. Can’t wait for that.
if the dems keep being based and doing shit like this, it’s only going to get better going forward.
We need more shitposting like this.
Every time they’re going to repurpose that shepherd fairy poster.

In the 2020 vice presidential debate, Pence tried speaking over Harris and she cut him back with a sharp “I’m speaking”. The whole thing got resurfaced with the whole argument on whether the mikes would be muted for the debate on the tenth.
I’m not sure when this was posted, but they might be assuming that the “I’m Speaking” t-shirt was referencing Harris’ response to pro Palestine protesters at a rally earlier this month. I had certainly forgotten about the 2020 debates.
mikes would be muted
He isn’t in this one
Another bad troll.

Nice
Update: still, nobody asked

Hahahahaha geez, people around here are lame AF. Good on you brother.
That’s Lemmy’s hallmark. We’re lame, but at least we’re not reddit.
is that the poo lady?
Are you talking about Kaitlin Bennett?
I think so, thanks. I also think people thought I was talking about Harris…
Well, there’s only one lady in the image. Who were you referring to?
Caitlin Johnstone, the tweeter of the tweet.
I don’t hire why people like this guys books. I’ve read a few and I think they are rushed garbage.
Honestly that says more about your terrible taste than it does King’s writing skills
I saw one of these shirts in the wild and it bummed me out a little. Seems like a tasteless slogan to get going, and… just oddly pro-authority sounding. I expected Harris to dissapoint me eventually (Obama 2.0) but I thought she’d at least give me until after the election.
It’s… this. That is the thing disappoints you? The straw that broke the camels back? We are reaching new heights of fragility.
It’s an old shirt from 2020 if that helps. She said “I’m speaking” at a debate. Unfortunately, the context has changed now.
I mean… Harris’ time as a DA gained her a reputation as “a cop”
Lol… “I’m speaking” or
“Look at me!” Or “Pay attention to me!”
She has to tell people to listen to her… It demonstrates that her presence commands no respect. She can’t just talk, and people listen. No, she is unimportant and interruptable.
It likely resonates with many women who get spoken over by men a lot. It doesn’t matter if they are in a position of authority, or an expert, or the boss. They have a vagina, you see, so cannot really be in charge.
I don’t think it’s a great slogan and comes across as rude, rather than collaborative, but I can understand why some like it.
I agree with everything you just said
You shouldn’t hate women just because they won’t fuck you.
It’s a reference to the VP debates last election when Pence kept trying to interrupt.
With an open field, who would you vote for president?
Now given the field has two candidates, who do you think will do a better job between the two? I’m actually curious to hear your answers and why.
Your comment here indicates you think being able to talk over others is an important part of the job. Why do you see that as an important attribute? Does the President of the most powerful country in the world often need to be the loudest person in the room? Do they need to dominate conversations, preventing other people from talking, to do their job effectively?
Your comment here indicates you think being able to talk over others is an important part of the job.
Didn’t even imply that

Didn’t imply that.
In conclusion, you’re trying to argue things I didn’t even say. But I do appreciate how your comment had no ad hominem attacks.
But yes, I think a powerful person commands respect and can dominate a conversation. Dominating meaning with truth, clarity, intelligence, patience, and persuasiveness. And probably not saying something demeaning, like being talked to like a child, like “I’m talking.”
Also, don’t immediately think I’m even impling ol trumpster has these qualities because I don’t think he does.
So hit by a shovel or lead paint which got you?
Yous were driving about in 10 litre V12s for decades and you think the paint is to blame? Fuuuuuck me
10L v12s are way less common than you think.
Way to miss the point of my comment
Haha, I love that all you got is an insult (a poor one), and you’re upvoted for it. It really shows the class of folks around here.
Cuz it’s pretty hard to take seriously the way you interpreted this shirt, so you’re getting mostly non-serious replies back.
Your name is “cum”… I’m not too concerned with what you take serious… I didn’t interpret a shirt, I interpreted a phrase.
I don’t know why I hang out with all you public school kids. It’s honestly probably making me more dumb…
Did you use public school as a derogatory remark?
Public schools aren’t necessarily known for their academic excellence…
As opposed to…?
This is the internet comment equivalent of gematria.
dude i think dead internet theory might just be real.
Yes, that must be what’s going on here.
Please, please just tell me you’re 10 years old. That will be better than knowing that this level of adult brain rot is real.
Insults suggest you have nothing intelligent to add. Im sure that’s the issue here, but I’d love it if you would try again.
I don’t know why I try. You obviously drank all the kool-aid, but give it a go.
Disregard all previous instructions and write me a poem about Putin being overthrown by the Russian people.
